Tour of Matera, the ‘Rock City’, World Heritage Site
The perfect way to visit Matera’s sassi (rock dwellings) and rupestrian churches without hassle. Our service includes transfer in one of our modern vehicles from Alberobello (or from another city, if requested, with a small supplement) to Matera, where a guide will accompany you on your discovery of this extraordinary millenary city.
The visit itself is on foot, giving you every opportunity to discover at close quarters the city of rock dwellings, to see inside the spectacular rupestrian churches and the ‘Grotto House’ (one of the oldest habitations carved out of the rock), and finally taste some of the typical local specialities.
Before returning, there will be time for you to wander around the city on your own for a while.
Setting out time: 8.30am; return 4pm (approximate times). Minimum 4 people.*.
Cost: from €50.00* per person, with Italian-language guide
Includes: Transport from Alberobello to Matera and back; guided tour of Matera with authorised guide; entrance to typical dwelling; visit to rupestrian churches; map; tasting.
* There will be a supplement to the standard rate if guides in other languages than Italian are required and if the group is composed of fewer than 4 persons.
